Anderson connectors come in a few different sizes, each rated for a different current — and only connectors of the same rating and colour will plug together (a grey 175A only mates with another grey 175A, for example). The housing itself isn't marked with its amp rating, so the easiest way to check what you've got is to measure the width of the plastic housing:
- SB50 — about 35mm wide (50A — the most common size for campervan, solar and 12V leisure setups)
- SB120 — about 64mm wide (120A — less common, mainly larger marine/24V battery banks)
- SB175 — about 80mm wide (175A — the standard for HGV tail lifts and most recovery/winch disconnects)
- SB350 — about 108mm wide (350A — only needed for the largest winches and high-draw industrial setups)
We stock genuine SB50 and SB175 leads and kits. If you measure yours and it's an SB120 or SB350, get in touch and we'll point you in the right direction.
